Why did you choose EBP?

I chose EBP for two main reasons. Firstly, I was attracted by the international aspect, both the diversity of students and the opportunity to study in two countries. This allowed me to gain a global perspective from the very start of my career. Secondly, the practical approach of EBP, with the chance to immediately apply the knowledge gained during the two internships, was a decisive factor. This combination of theory and practice solidified my passion for the business world.

Present your career path

With a diverse international career spanning over three decades, I have developed a deep expertise in holistic business transformation. Born and raised in the Netherlands, I studied at the EBP in Rotterdam and Bordeaux before venturing into the corporate world across Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, and Switzerland. After a successful 27-year career in various senior leadership roles, I founded Ubuntu, a consultancy based in Dubai, UAE, dedicated to guiding companies through holistic business transformation. Ubuntu emphasizes embedding digital, sustainability, circularity, and ESG at the heart of business models, reflecting my belief in the power of business as a force for good.

In addition to leading Ubuntu, I am a public speaker and advocate for the Ubuntu Polder Framework, an innovative approach that underscores cooperation and the interconnectedness of the world to create sustainable value. I describe this approach in detail in my book Holistic Impact: The Ubuntu Polder Journey. My transition from corporate leadership to entrepreneurship and advisory roles exemplifies a commitment to not only adapting to change but also driving it for the greater good. Since January 2024, I have also taken on the role of Vice President for Central Africa with Seaboard, further enriching my extensive international experience and continuing my impact on global business practices.

What advice would you give to a student and a recent graduate?

Trust the universe and stay curious. Life is a constant journey of learning, unlearning, and relearning. Embrace every opportunity with an open mind, and know that challenges are chances to grow and innovate.
